The Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines, (CeMAP) Inc said Vietnam's cement exports to the Philippines rose 17 per cent YoY to 2.51Mt in the first four months of 2021, making the Philippines the second-largest destination for Vietnam exporters. Total cement and clinker exports from Vietnam declined two per cent YoY in July 2021, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). The country’s cement producers supplied 3,202,346t of cementitious product to customers beyond its borders. However, when compared with June 2021, exports were up by 15 per cent. Cement sales in Vietnam in July 2021 declined eight per cent YoY to 4,964,884t and by 19 per cent from 6,095,139t in June 2021, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Cement demand in Vietnam rose 14 per cent YoY to 6,095,139t in June 2021 but decreased six per cent when compared with May 2021, when 6,469,659t was supplied to the domestic market, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Vietnam considers higher cement export tariff

Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) has reportedly proposed that the government consider increasing the export tariffs for clinker to 10 per cent from five per cent, according to Vietnam News. The MoF explained that exports of cement and clinker are not sustainable as their production uses non-renewable sources. Cement and clinker producers in Vietnam are also making use of a low electricity tariff.

Vietnam’s total cement and clinker sales expanded by 0.9 per cent YoY in 2020 to 97.5Mt, according to FiinGroup. Of this total, domestic cement consumption was 62.1Mt, declining by 5.6 per cent YoY. Cement dispatches in Vietnam reached 6.551Mt in April 2021, up 16 per cent YoY, according to the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). VICEM reported a 17 per cent YoY rise in sales to 2.26Mt while its affiliated companies saw a six per cent YoY uptick to 1.661Mt.
