Bolivian cement market expands 1% in October

Cement consumption in Bolivia edged up 0.8 per cent YoY to 382,944t in October 2020 from 379,781t in October 2019, according to Bolivia’s national statistics agency, INE. In the country’s largest market, La Paz, demand rose 12.1 per cent YoY to 101,185t while in Cochabamba, offtake was 2.9 per cent up YoY to 97,911t. Cement demand in Argentina has seen a 33.3 per cent rise to 976,939t in December 2020 from 732,734t in December 2019, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. Cement deliveries in Switzerland, including Liechtenstein, slipped 3.1 per cent YoY to 1,002,614t in the 4Q20, down from 1,034,914t in the 4Q19, according to cemsuisse, the Swiss cement association. Cement demand in Morocco declined 0.8 per cent YoY to 1.18Mt in December 2020, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism. Deliveries to the infrastructure segment increased 7.3 per cent YoY to 102,520t in December 2020, but offtake to the ready-mix concrete segment fell by 4.8 per cent YoY to 202,802t. Shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports in the USA and Puerto Rico, increased by three per cent YoY to 9.8Mt in October 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). India’s NCL Industries has announced a 49.5 per cent YoY increase in cement production to 632,746t in the third quarter of the FY20-21, rising from 423,199t in the year-ago period. Cement dispatches also climbed 45.1 per cent YoY to 625,162t from 430,861t in the 3QFY19-20.
