Bolivian cement demand at 2.6Mta in 9M16

Bolivia’s cement market required 2.663Mt of cement in the first nine months of 2016, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Santa Cruz had the highest demand for the grey product at 867,816t, a third of national consumption. Bolivia’s Morales signs off 1.3Mta cement works plan

President Evo Morales authorised the construction of a US$306m cement plant in Potosí, Bolivia. The new 1.3Mta works will be built in Cutara, near Karachipampa, near an important limestone deposit. Around US$245m is earmarked for the actual plant while the remainder will be spent on complementary services such as electricity, gas, roads and the installation of potable water.

Bolivia: Soboce receives new kiln

Bolivian cement company Sociedad Boliviana de Cemento (Soboce) has received a vertical kiln, the first to will installed in Bolivia, as part of Illimani LP12 project. Bolivia: motor for mill 4000m above sea level

German company Menzel Elektromotoren has delivered two motors to a cement plant in Bolivia for a cement mill and a classifier. The mill in question is not only Bolivia’s first VRM, but at 4000m above sea level it is also the highest installed elevation of an OK mill in the entire Americas. Bolivia’s Fancesa to open bids for new production unit

The opening of bids for the equipment of Fancesa’s new production facilities is expected today, according to Herland Daza, general manager of the Bolivian cement company.    FLSmidth and Polysius are participating in the tender, which is valued around US$220m, according to Mr Daza.

Bolivia: Itacamba’s highest production figures

Bolivian cement producer Itacamba Cemento has reported its highest ever production figure of cement, reaching 20,006t in June 2016 and breaking its previous record of 18,764.65t reported in August 2007. The firm intends to begin production at its Yacuses plant towards in the second half of 2016. Clinker production at the plant should begin in November and cement production in December.

Bolivia: Fancesa seek new transport solution

Fancesa will study a project for its own road transport company put forward by the Chuquisaca government. The firm is in the middle of a dispute with local unionised truck drivers who anticipate that the new business unit will be a total failure. Fancesa has reportedly received an offer from Volvo that could provide at least 100 trucks immediately.

Bolivia: Yacuses expected to produce cement in December

Work on the 0.87Mta Yacuses cement plant, owned by Itacamba Cemento, in the Germán Busch province of Bolivia, 590km from Santa Cruz, has been completed by 70 per cent, according to the latest reports in the local press. First clinker is expected to be produced in November, with first cement leaving the production line in December. Equipment for the US$220m works was delivered by China-based Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Institute.

Fancesa invites five overseas contracts to build new Sucre works

Bolivia’s Fábrica de Cemento Sucre SA (Fancesa) has invited five foreign equipment suppliers to take part in the bidding for the construction of its new plant in Sucre. “We have sent the invitations to European and Asian companies, in case of the Asian firms only to Japanese companies,” said Braulio Yucra, Fancesa director.
