Cement sales in Chile fall 10% in March

Chile’s cement market contracted by 10.3 per cent YoY to 328,003t in March 2023 from 365,8926t in March 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. In the January-March 2023 period sales were down 10.3 per cent to 926,061t from 1,032,001t in the first quarter of 2022.

Andrés Segú Undurraga resigns from Polpaico Board

Andrés Segú Undurraga has resigned from his position as director of Cemento Polpaico SA, Chile. His respective alternative director, José Tomás Edwards Alcalde, also resigned on 21 April. The company’s Board of Directors agreed to appoint Alejandro Gevert Detto as Mr Segú’ replacement, who will serve in this position until the next ordinary shareholders’ meeting when the Board of Director must be completely renewed.

CBB to implement a new AF project at Teno

Chile’s cement dispatches down 10% in January-February 2023

Cement dispatches in Chile fell by 9.5 per cent to 288,761t in February 2023 from 309,297t in February 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. In the first two months of 2023, deliveries declined by 10.2 per cent YoY to 598,058t from 666,175t in the year-ago period.

Cemento Polpaico sees 70% drop in profits in 2022

Chile’s Cemento Polpaico , owned by the Hurtado Vicuña Group , reported a 16.9 per cent increase in revenue in 2022 to CLP368,391m when compared with 2021 when revenue reached CP315,273m. Chilean cement dispatches fell 16.9 per cent YoY to 310,073t in December 2022, reported the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. For the full year, deliveries were down 13.4 per cent from 4,388,207t in 2021 to 3,802,114t in 2022.

Clinker unloading at Polpaico’s Mejillones terminal suspended

Clinker unloading at Cemento Polpaico ’s Mejillones terminal in northern Chile will remain suspended at least until 1 August 2023 as Terminal Mejillones SA carries out repairs to the facilities, which were affected by a fire on 1 October 2022. The cement producer said it would be adopting a series of measures to minimise the impact of the suspension.
