HeidelbergCement agrees sale of Sierra Leone subsidiary

HeidelbergCement has signed an agreement to sell its subsidiary Sierra Leone Cement Corp Ltd (Leocem) to the Diamond Cement Group. Fujian Cement Co Ltd has announced new projects for the Yongan Jianfu and Ansha Jianfu 4500tpd production lines. The energy-saving projects represent a total investment of CNY247.4m (US$38.84m). Egypt’s Sinai Cement saw its consolidated net loss contract to EGP323.3m (US$20.58m) in the first nine months of the year, compared with EGP425m in the year-ago period. Consolidated net sales advanced 67.3 per cent YoY to EGP984.8m from EGP588.7m in the 9M20.

PPC Barnet in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) announced that nearly 230,000t of cement were produced in the second quarter of 2021. Chile-based Cemento Polpaico reported revenues up 71.1 per cent to CLP230,726.57m (US$277.3m) in the January-September 2021 period when compared with revenues of CLP134,876.954m in the equivalent period of the previous year. Cemento Cosmos to stop Cordoba kiln

Cemento Cosmos, part of Brazil-based Votorantim Cimentos, is stopping the kiln at its Córdoba plant in Spain in 2022 due to high energy costs. The plan is to “significantly” reduce clinker production with temporary shutdowns over the next year, reports Diario Córdoba.
