Gharibwal Cement announces 11% fall in net sales

Pakistan’s Gharibwal Cement has announced a 10.9 per cent YoY fall in net sales to PKR7.37bn (US$46.09m) in the 9MFY19-20 ended 31 March 2020, compared to PKR8.28bn in the year-ago period. The company also reported a net loss of PKR540.2m against a profit of PKR819.8m in the 9MFY18-19. During the January-March 2020 period, net sales declined 20.3 per cent YoY to PKR2.2bn.

Colombian cement market contracts 29% in March

Cement dispatches in Colombia fell by 28.6 per cent to 739,700t in March 2020 from 1,035,800t in March 2019, according to the latest data by the country’s statistics agency, DANE. Domestic output declined 25.6 per cent YoY to 848,600t from 1,139,900t in the year-ago period. Cement Hranice records 5% sales increase

Czech Republic-based Cement Hranice saw a 4.7 per cent YoY increase in sales to CZK1.78bn (US$71.45m) in 2019. However, the company’s net profit fell 2.3 per cent YoY to CZK501m. Domestic sales reached CZK1.347bn during the year. UAE-based Arkan Building Materials has seen a 13.8 per cent fall in net profit to AED10.53m (US$2.87m) during the first quarter of 2020, compared to AED12.21m in the year-ago period. Pakistan-based Dadabhoy Cement Industries Ltd reported an operating loss of PKR1.73m (US$10,796m) in the nine-month period ended 31 March 2020, compared to an operating loss of PKR8.748m in the 9MFY18-19. Loss before taxation was down to PKR2.104m in the 9MFY19-20 from PKR10.303m the previous year’s nine-month result. Holcim Philippines sees 29% fall in net profit

Holcim Philippines has reported a 28.7 per cent fall in its net profit to PHP501.54m (US$9.93m) for the first quarter of 2020, compared to PHP703.86m in the year-ago period.
