Hanson secures rail deal to supply Hinkley Point C project with cement

Hanson Cement (HeidelbergCement group) has agreed a new contract with GB Railfreight for seven years. The new deal will provide freight services for bulk cement from the Ketton works in Rutland, Lancashire, to terminals at London King's Cross, Avonmouth in Bristol and Mossend in Glasgow. Saudi-based City Cement Co reported profits of SAR50.5m (US$13.5m) in the 3Q19 when compared with SAR2.38m loses in the same quarter of 2018, according to Mubasher. RAK White Cement announces 29% net profit rise

UAE-based RAK White Cement saw its net profit increase 28.6 per cent to AED17.89m (US$4.8m) during the 9M19, compared to AED13.91m in the year-ago period. Sales advanced 5.9 per cent to AED180.16m in the first nine months of 2019 against AED170.08m in the 9M18.

JK Lakshmi Cement records 6% rise in net sales

India’s JK Lakshmi Cement has reported a net profit of INR486.7m (US$6.89m) in the 2QFY19-20, compared with a net loss of INR50.2m in the year-ago period. Consolidated net sales increased 5.6 per cent YoY to INR10.12bn. Consolidated EBITDA advanced 45 per cent to INR1.54bn in the quarter ending September 2019, rising from INR1.06bn in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

India’s Tamil Nadu Cements Corp Ltd, owned by the government of the state, has expanded the capacity of its Ariyalur complex at an investment of INR8.09bn (US$114.4m). Gansu Qilianshan Cement Group Co Ltd has agreed to buy an additional stake in Gansu Zhangye Julong Building Materials Co Ltd. Following the acquisition, Gansu Qilianshan Cement will hold a stake of around 80 per cent in the company. On 6 June 2019 Gansu Qilianshan Cement acquired an additional 22.78 per cent stake in Gansu Zhangye Julong Building Materials, up from 26 per cent initially.
