BBMG Corp expects increase in 2Q net profit

BBMG Corp said it expects to record a net profit attributable to shareholders of between CNY1825m (US$269m) and CNY1900m for the six months ended 30 June 2017, as compared to the net profit of about CNY1821m for the same period last year. With the significant increase in the unit prices for cement and clinker in the first half of 2017 compared with the same period of last year, the profit for the cement segment increased significantly YoY, the company said.

Raysut Cement has invited its shareholders to attend an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to discuss and approve the sale of Raysut Cement’s entire share in Oman Portuguese Cement to Opal Development Co LLC. Algeria’s Groupe Industriel des Ciments d’Algérie (GICA) will increase its production to 20Mta by 2019-20, said company spokesperson Azzeddine Asfirane. Scan Togo’s new works at Awandjélo in Togo’s Kara region will be inaugurated on 15 July, according to local news reports. The HeidelbergCement-owned works represents an investment of US$15m and is expected to produce 0.2Mta of cement.

TCC International issues positive profit alert

TCC International Holdings Ltd said it expects to swing to a profit for the first half of this year compared to a loss for the corresponding period of 2016. The Hong Kong-listed cement products manufacturer said an increase in product prices has helped earnings through the first half. It did not specify the expected profit for the January-June 2017 period. In the 1H16, TCC International posted a loss of HKD156.1m (US$20m).

Fancesa to modernise Cal Orck’o packing section

Fabrica Nacional de Cemento SA (Fancesa) has received four proposals for the modernisation of its packing department at its Cal Orck’o plant, Bolivia. Haver & Boecker, FL Smidth Ventomatic, Claudius Peters Inc and Beumer Latinoamérica all responded to the call for tender to supply equipment for a new cement silo, a rotary packer with automatic bag applicator and a mechanised truck loading system.

LafargeHolcim Laâyoune grinding unit enters operation

LafargeHolcim Maroc has completed the construction of its 0.2Mta grinding unit in Laâyoune, according to the company’s management board. Meanwhile, work has started on the building of a new 1.7Mta cement works in Souss. Equipment for the plant has been ordered from Germany-based thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions.
