Holcim Philippines reported record volumes in 2012. Cement shipments, which had declined by five per cent in 2011, rose by 21 per cent. Turnover grew by more than a quarter to PHP27,160m (EUR517.7m/US$660m) and the net profit, which had dropped by 47.1 per cent in 2011, jumped by almost 80 per cent to PHP3630m as the construction industry led the country's economic recovery. Union members of the Caribbean Cement Company Ltd (CCCL) have staged a demonstration amid concerns on continued declines in the domestic cement market. The one-hour protest took place outside the company’s plant in Rockfort, Jamaica. Vicem Hoang Mai Cement posts first-quarter loss

Vicem Hoang Mai Cement JSC (HOM) has posted a first quarter loss of VND10bn (US$476,100) attributed to increased costs. The company closed 2012 with a net profit of VND112.72bn (US$5.39m) on revenue of VND1.53trn last year, down 13 per cent and up 8.07 per cent YoY, respectively. HOM is seeking approval from its parent company, Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation o revise up its 2013 pretax profit target by 4.65 per cent to VND90bn (US$4.29m) from the initial VND86 billion.
