Pakistan's cement industry recorded a negative growth of 1.41 per cent during first three months of FY18-19, ended 30 September 2018, as production fell from 9.332Mt of cement to 9.2Mt, apparently due to lack of local demand and other issues, reports Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). Argentina’s cement consumption fell 17.8 per cent to 970,248t in November 2018 when compared with 1.18Mt in November 2017. When compared with the previous month, the decline was 6.7 per cent, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Vietnam Jan-Nov output up 9% YoY

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 81.9Mt of cement in the first 11 months of 2018, representing a rise of 9.3 per cent YoY, according to the country’s General Statistics Office. Cement output in November increased 8.9 per cent YoY to 8.2Mt and saw a 3.8 per cent advance MoM from 7.9Mt in October.

Colombian cement demand up 5% in October

The Colombian cement market expanded by 5.2 per cent to 1.083Mt  in October 2018 when compared with 0.949Mt in October 2017, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Tajikistan exported 1.1Mt of cement to neighbouring countries in the first 10 months of 2018, an increase of 30 per cent compared to the year-ago period, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT). Consumption of cement in Kenya fell 2.2 per cent from 466,909t in August to 456,473t in September 2018, according to a recent report by Kenya National Statistics Bureau. Output followed a similar trend, decreasing by 2.8 per cent from 473,861t to 460,546t over the same period. Peru’s cement consumption advanced 2.9 per cent YoY to 1.02Mt, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement production by domestic producers fell by two per cent YoY and by 2.9 per cent MoM to 0.903Mt while clinker output decreased by 23.5 per cent YoY and 2.1 per cent MoM to 0.678Mt in October. Cement dispatches in September 2018 increased by 0.8 per cent YoY to 1.031Mt from 1.023Mt, according to DANE, the country’s statistics office. Demand growth was led by Córdoba, where it rose by 18.3 per cent YoY, followed by Meta (+16.1 per cent) and Nariño (+12.8 per cent). Argentina's cement market contracted by 9.6 per cent YoY to 1,040,317t in October 2018, according to the latest data by the country’s cement association, AFCP. Deliveries by the country’s cement producers fell by 8.8 per cent to 1,040,197t while at 120t, imports were a shadow of those in October 2017 (9720t). Total shipments of Portland and blended cements in the USA and Puerto Rico increased by 5.8 per cent in August 2018 when compared with August 2017, according to the latest figures by the US Geological Survey (USGS).
