The challenge of establishing co-processing in developing and emerging markets is fraught with problems but the global cement major is successfully achieving its goals in this area. Using waste as a resource is a key element of HeidelbergCement’s sustainability strategy. This approach has successfully been developed in European plants over the last 20 years and is now also being progressively applied in North America and emerging countries where landfill is gradually being replaced by more resource-efficient waste management practices.
