At the recent Cemtech conference in Prague, one of the presentations addressed the topic of energy reduction opportunities. During the following question-and-answer session, a delegate asked about the improvement possibilities that can be achieved with a roll press in combination with a ball mill. With roll presses one of the main themes for ICR's December issue, it is also the topic of this month’s Technical Forum.

During this year’s Cemtech Europe conference, a superb presentation entitled 'Energy reduction opportunities and an assessment of alternative energy technologies for cement plants' was delivered by Lawrie Evans, group performance manager of Italcementi. The paper gave an overview of Italcementi’s energy reduction strategies before concentrating on the opportunities to reduce the consumption of electrical energy.
