During a recent visit to UBE Machinery Corp’s’ (UMC) headquarters in Japan, ICR spoke with Naohiko Yamaguchi, deputy manager and overseas sales manager of the company’s Industrial Machinery division, about the segment’s development. Serving both local and international markets, recent conveying advances by the company, plus the appetite for larger VRMs by foreign customers, now hold potential for further growth.

Japanese conglomerate UBE Industries has a long and distinguished history in the cement industry. Its first cement plant was launched in 1923 and today the company operates three factories in its domestic market of Japan: the UBE plant in Ube City, the Isa works in Mine City, Yamaguchi prefecture, and the Kanda cement factory in Miyako-Gun, Fukuoka prefecture.
