The preference for plastic

While various studies have been undertaken comparing the impact of paper and plastic bags on the environment, most of this research focusses on grocery packaging. However, the body of research was expanded when Belgian manufacturer of bag filling equipment Arodo received a request from a UK-based customer to develop a machine for packaging cement in plastic bags. This research shows that plastic packaging provides a number of benefits for the cement sector in terms of environmental impact, product shelf life, storage and transportation and improved retail display (see Table 1).
