To lower its production costs, Nova Cimangola has constructed its new clinker line in Sequele, Luanda, near its existing plant in Cacuaco. The new clinker line is to make the company self-sufficient in clinker, avoiding the need for future clinker imports, as well as raising grinding capacity following completion of the second phase in anticipation of substantial forecast market growth. By Nova Cimangola, Angola.
Angolan cement producer Nova Cimangola SA was founded in 1957 and production started at the company’s plant at Cacuaco, near Luanda, which had initial clinker and cement capacities of 589,000tpa and 668,800tpa, respectively. As the country invested in infrastructure and post-civil war rehabilitation, cement demand climbed. In 2006 and 2011, the company commissioned cement mills 5 and 6, lifting cement capacity to 2.46Mta. Clinker imports helped the cement producer optimise the use of the expanded cement capacity.
