ICR’s annual corporate profile review looks at the industry’s leading cement producers and their business activities and financial performance in 2017 and 2018.

This year our corporate round-up features those companies who have been both the most active and influential in the global cement sector over the last 12 months. 2017 saw an ongoing sea change in the worldwide production of cement, as the wave of merger activity continued to sweep through the industry. Rising costs were an ever-present concern as the price and scarcity of resources played out against increasingly stringent environmental regulations. The year also rounded off with a particularly harsh winter in the US and Europe, dampening construction activity and causing a dent in revenues into 2018 for the likes of HeidelbergCement, LafargeHolcim, Cemex and CRH.
