In this month’s Technical Forum, Dr Michael Clark examines the importance of a stable and reliable electricity supply. As one of the leading expenses of cement plant operation, it is essential to understand how electricity use can be optimised.
No cement factory can operate efficiently without a stable and reliable electricity supply. The massive heat capacity in a cement kiln means that it must be operated in long, uninterrupted campaigns to minimise the total thermal energy investment. If the electricity supply fails then the kiln stops and the investment must be made again, hence the need for a reliable source.
