In September 2018 PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk started commissioning its new terminal in Lampung, southern Sumatra, Indonesia. Five months later, in January 2019, the facility is fully operational and reduces the high costs of complex logistics from the company’s integrated Citeureup works to improve the availability of bulk and bagged cement across the Indonesian market. By PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk, Indonesia.
The cement market in Lampung and other areas of Sumatra, Indonesia, is dominated by bagged cement. However, government infrastructure projects have increased the demand for bulk product on Sumatra. Projects such as the Sumatra toll road, a 150km-long road that starts in Lampung, have resulted in bulk sales increasing by 62.3 per cent between 2016 and 2018 (see Table 1). As the Indonesian government continues to invest in the country’s infrastructure, demand for bulk cement is expected to continue to rise.
