Global aggregates: recovering, resilient and sustainable

Increasingly resilient, the global aggregates market is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, as shown in a recent meeting of the Global Aggregates Information Network (GAINTM), the industry is poised to address future challenges and opportunities. By Jim O’Brien, GAIN, Ireland.

As many readers will already know, the Global Aggregates Information Network (GAIN™) is a voluntary liaison network of regional and national aggregates associations from around the world. Its mission is to share industry best practices, making for an ever-more sustainable aggregates industry globally. Founded in 2010 with just five members, GAIN now has 20 members spread across six continents, representing some 77 per cent of global aggregates production of over 41bnt. GAIN is uniquely successful in its highly-interactive global membership, thanks to the very positive cooperation of its members.
