This Cemtech Live Webinar considered vital developments in the field of conventional kiln fuels, including coal and petcoke sourcing, grinding and safety measures. As such, presentations were delivered by Vincent Grosskopf, Coal Mill Safety Pty Ltd (Singapore), Dr Roland Aeckersberg, Loesche (Germany), and Virendra Rathore, JK White Cement (India).

In 1992, Mr Grosskopf started work as a sales manager for Thorwesten Vent GmbH, focussing on constructional explosion protection and silos for pulverised fuels. In 2011, after retirement from Thorwesten Vent, he started consultancy work under the name Coal Mill Safety Pte Ltd.

From 1992 to 2011, he participated in standardisation work, both on European standards for constructional explosion protection and on the American NFPA 85 code.
An efficient and safe way to produce pulverised solid fuels for various applications – the Loesche vertical roller mill: Dr Roland Aeckersberg, Loesche (Germany)

Dr Aeckersberg has completed a doctoral thesis on the ash fusibility of wood pellets in dependency of the ash composition, and is a visiting lecturer at the Unit of Technologies of Fuels, RWTH Aachen University. Since 2012, he has worked at Loesche's Process Technology department with a special focus on solid fuels and safety. He also became a certified fire and explosion protection officer in 2018.

Mr Rathore is a graduated industrial engineer and has a Masters Diploma in Business Administration, with specialisation in production and materials management.

Mr Thangarasu has served as a process specialist at FLSmidth Pvt Ltd between 2008-2017 and a grinding expert (horizontal ball mill and VRMs) at HeidelbergCement’s Technical Centre – APAC region. He is now general manager at Fives Combustion Systems Pvt Ltd.
