Long Son Cement Company: Strong and sustainable

The Long Son Cement Factory (pictured above) is located in Dong Son, Bim Son Town, Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam. The factory has four modern cement production lines with a total production capacity of more than 10Mta. Each kiln has a clinker capacity of 7000ptd, with the heat consumed for combustion relatively low at about 730kcal/kg clinker.

The pyroprocess system is equipped with IKN pendulum coolers with rolling mill drive, supplied by IKN (Germany). The fan system uses the Coanda Effect, which creates an air jet that flows parallel to the grate surface, designed to increase cooling efficiency and maximise heat recovery. All production lines are monitored and controlled by the most modern ABB operation and control system, while x-ray analysis equipment is supplied by Thermo Fisher. The quality control system (QCS) is connected to the dosing station through the DCS to ensure stable cement quality.

The Long Son plant enjoys one of the best sources of raw materials in Vietnam. This combination of good raw materials, modern equipment and good management enables the company to create high quality and trusted cement products. Besides ordinary Portland cement, Long Son Cement also produces special cements such as sulphate-resistant, marine-resistant, and low-alkali cement.

Sustainable development is a priority for Long Son Cement and the company seeks to continuously improve its production efficiency and environmental performance, and is committed to recycling and waste co-treatment. Dust emissions are maintained at levels well below the requirements of Vietnam Standards and the plant’s waste heat recovery system can generate about 25-30 per cent of the plant's power requirements.

Delegates attending Cemtech Asia 2023 will have the unique opportunity to visit the Long Son Cement Factory at Bim Son (subject to availability).
