Plant tour to Sharjah Cement Factory
Sharjah Cement Factory, part of Sharjah Cement & Industrial Development Co (SCIDC), is one of the leading cement producers in the Middle East. Commissioned in 1977, it’s integrated 4.27Mta cement plant has a clinker production capacity of 2.25Mta and consists of two pyro-process lines and four cement mills. The plant is self-sufficient in power owing to a 40MW captive power plant, in addition to a waste heat recovery unit that was installed in 2015 and generates up to 9MW of electricity, resulting in an annual reduction of 70,000t of carbon emissions.
