Unseasonably wet weather in the opening months of this year has hampered infrastructure projects in India, resulting in a slowdown in cement demand. Despite new capacity, UltraTech has already reported a three per cent fall in dispatches in 1Q15. Demand from rural India, which accounts for around 40 per cent of total cement demand, is also down, leading analysts to predict weak demand persisting into the first half of FY16.
