PPC - August 2015
PPC has held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new 0.7Mta cement works in Msara, near Harare, Zimbabwe. The US$80m plant, which will become the company’s second facility in the country, is due to be commissioned in the second half of this year. The plant is currently under construction by China’s Sinoma International Engineering.
“While our existing plant in Bulawayo has positioned us well in Matabeleland, it is clear that much of the country’s future growth centres around Harare and northern Zimbabwe,” according to Njombo Lekula, managing director of PPC Zimbabwe. The company is currently the only producer of 42.5 grade cement in Zimbabwe and the largest manufacturer of ordinary Portland cement.
