Dangote Cement - January 2018


Dangote Cement has been technically disqualified from applying for three limestone mine licences in an open bidding process, according to Nepal’s Department of Mines and Geology. The mines in question are located in Dhading, in Nepal’s Central Development Region, and Palpa, in the country’s Western Development Region.

The Investment Board Nepal approved the application back in 2013 before passing it to the mining department. However, Dangote’s proposal reportedly lacked essential documents on the required skilled manpower and was, therefore, not considered to be qualified for the next financial proposal. 

n Makawanpur, also in the Central Development region, which was later found to be substandard.
