China National Building Materials (CNBM) - June 2019

China National Building Materials (CNBM) reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 16.2 per cent YoY to 211,340,478t in 2018, according to its latest Environmental, Social and Governance report. Over the same period, its sulphur dioxide emissions declined by 43.2 per cent to 19,674t, while its self-produced hazardous solid waste fell by 52.7 per cent to 2024t. The amount of self-produced solid waste disposed of by the company came in at 236,994t last year, giving a disposal rate of 100 per cent. Meanwhile, water consumption declined by 6.3 per cent YoY to 153,868,717t.

In terms of energy use, CNBM used 0.2 per cent more electricity YoY in 2018. Coal and natural gas use also increased, up to 1.7 and 0.04 per cent YoY, respectively. This brought total energy consumption for the year in at 374,541,437MWh, a YoY uptick of 1.6 per cent.
