Maximum SO3 Permissible

Hey,

 I would like to ask about the Maximum SO3 permissible in the kiln system?

Which materials (kiln feed, hot meal or bypass) are use to calculate max SO3?

Does this formula use to calculate it (SO3 = 1.29Na2O +0.85 K2O)?

and last question, what does this formula use for (1-((SO3)clinker/(SO3)hotmeal))?

Re: Maximum SO3 Permissible

Maximum allowable input of SO3 for calciner kiln system without bypass on LOI free basis is 1.2%.Limits for SO3 in clinker to assure good quality should be 1.6%.

Re: Maximum SO3 Permissible

I use now the "clogging index" based on the hot meal analysis:

cidx=(Cl(hot meal) + SO3(hot meal)*0.5)

A limit could be 2% typically.
If the "enrichment" of the hot meal with respect to clinker is known, it gives:

cidx=(enrichCl*Cl(clinker) + enrichSO3*SO3(clinker)*0.5)

Typically: enrichCl=100 and enrichSO3=4 for 4 stage kiln.

The clinker analysis can be predicted by the kiln balance: the input from the meal and the fuels minus the output from the bypass. The bypass can even be modelled further.
