Sample bulk density

Good day all

In the Cement plant in which i work, we normally take samples to analyse the grinding being done at various point. We normally analyse it by a blaine and percent retained on a 90 and 45 micron sieve.

My question is, is there any benefit in also obtaining the bulk density of these samples??

What tests do anyone else do on their circuit samples??

Re: Sample bulk density

Dear Shstrib:

In my experience, bulk density is a good test when you have your shipment by bags. In some opportunities small variations in blaine and sieve retained affects the bulk density and then the productivity of the cement bag machine.

In our circuit samples we have the same tests than you, but we have only one parameter as fundamental and others as indications, specially in blended cements (because the blaine, for example, is affected by the filler variations).

Best regards,

Re: Sample bulk density

Dear Shastrib

For a circuit sample the residue levels and the blaine is suffice in ascertaining  the performance of the mill as a whole.
