The job of lifting liners is not to do any classification that is obvious. As I understand the grinding media ball falls from a height (cateracting) on the thick base of lifting liner then it revolves as well as spins(cascading) on the base of liner where bigger particles come in contact and more work is done between the liner and the ball.
This work gets progressively reduced as the smaller size material comes in contact with subsequent lifting liners and smaller size grinding ball. This could be the logical reason for observing higher wear profile of lifting liners at mill inlet than the mill outlet. You would also appreciate that critical speed of the mill plays important role to get the cascading and cater acting effect.
By the way what is the status of Litreweight vs.free lime study which you have planned to take up on your Kiln. I am yet to hear from you on the same.
Best Wishes
