Process Air

Dear Mr.Norew,

Definitely there will be effect on Kiln refractory by frequent fluctuations in the supply of processs air.

If you want to adjust the cooler air flow for any reason, Before making any change you must have the recent data for Burning zone temperature, Secondary air, tertiary air, tertiary air damper position and more importantly Kiln shell temperature.

Then you can adjut the air flow by continuously monitoring the above parameters. If you are increasing air flow of first set of cooler fans then there are chances your kiln shell temperature may increase. In that case you have to adjust your flame accordingly.

The best thing is optimise your process air gradually and try to maintain that settings always without changing frequently.

We can adjust the supply of the process air by adjusting any one or all of the following:

Pre - Heater fan speed

Cooler vent fan speed

Cooler fan air flows

Clinker bed in cooler

Kiln Hood draft

Tertiary air damper

By adjusting any one or all of the above we are shifting burning zone and definitely it will make an impact on the Kiln refractory
