Dear All,
Please we do have this problem of high free lime whenever we have yellowish colour nodules like coagulated raw material in our clinker sample. Is the yellowish material underburnt clinker, coating or raw material. Some people adviced that we remove them before free lime determination but i objected as they are all going to the silo. At times the C3S is good and at times very low. Is it a burning problem or what can be done.

This sounds suspiciously like meal buildups falling into the kiln from somewhere near to the kiln inlet (eg smokebox, calciner etc.) or perhaps parts of a soft meal ring, which has formed near the kiln inlet, breaking away and passing through the kiln.
Are the nodules clinkerized on the outside and soft and light-coloured in the middle?
