Dear Expert
can you please clearify what is the basic differnece between kWH and kW and where we use this properly ,if any example it is better.
thanks

Hello Raju,
The difference between kW and kWh is that;- kWh is a measure of energy whereas kW is a measure of power or more simply, the rate at which energy is generated or used.
Unfortunately, it is not immediately obvious from the term "kW" that it is a rate of energy usage. But a watt is defined as one Joule per second. ie. 1 W = 1 J/s or, 1kW = 1000 J/s
Therefore if you have a motor which is rated at 2kW (2000 J/s) and you run it for 1 hour, the total amount of energy used in that period is;- (2000 J/s * 3600 s) = 7200000 J = 7.2 MJ, which is the same as (2kW * 1hr) = 2kWh.

Ted.
