I was wondering what people consider best practice for reliable measurement of the degree of Calcination in Hotmeal and/or CKD.

Do peple use simple furnace tests or are people having success using LECO/Eltra type instruments or using XRD for residual Carbonate peaks as a percentage of raw meal carbonate, or the increase on the CaO peak.

Would like to get away from simple formula as they are susceptible to errors from volatiles.
