computational tools for cement engineers, discussing our needs and experience

Hello,

I always found it strange that cement engineering computations are mainly performed with Excel.
Just browsing the threads here shows that people are still missing tools like kiln balance or recipe calculations. (*)
In our time of open-source and free software, this seems a bit outdated, isn't it? 
In times where young engineers always have experience in programming, this cannot be understood.

I would like to know what are the cement engineering applications that you would value the most?
I would also like to know which applications you are already the most satisfied of and anything you would like to share in this respect.
