Lafarge has rejected proposals for a merger with fellow building materials group  Saint-Gobain, French daily Le Figaro reported.

Citing unnamed sources, the paper said Saint-Gobain and  Lafarge recently held talks over a possible tie-up, and notably discussed the governance of the new entity.

But the merger scenario was rejected by Lafarge CEO Bruno Lafont, who said the project lacked industrial logic, the paper said.
