Energis LLC, one of the largest providers of waste management solutions and a leader in using co-processing systems, has changed its name to Geocycle. The change, announced by Geocycle president Rob Davies, is effective immediately.

Our new name, Geocycle, is consistent with our evolution into a waste solutions company. This broader, service-oriented business will help us strengthen our market access and our link to sustainable development, said Davies.

Davies noted that, as Geocycle, the company will continue to provide quality service to its customers including the co-processing of materials at the cement manufacturing plants of Holcim (US) Inc. Geocycle is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Holcim (US), one of the nations largest cement manufacturers.

Co-processing is a waste management approach that accepts commercial and industrial waste streams, including off-spec and out-of-date products, as supplemental fuels and alternative raw materials as part of the cement-making process. Using waste materials in this way recovers their energy potential and incorporates minerals into a finished product, portland cement, resulting in virtually no residue. Co-processing is seen as preferable to landfilling and incineration on the waste management hierarchy acknowledged by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other organizations.

Geocycles operations are guided by the principles of sustainable development, said Davies. We help companies meet the needs of their waste management challenges by employing proven solutions that do not compromise the needs of future generations.

Geocycle is headquartered in Dundee, Michigan and currently has a network of 11 facilities in the United States and is affiliated with more than 35 sister companies throughout the world.

Geocycles parent company, Holcim (US) is one of the United States’ leading manufacturers and suppliers of cement and mineral components. The company operates 14 manufacturing plants and over 70 distribution facilities in the United States. Holcim (US) is a subsidiary of Holcim Ltd of Switzerland. Holcim Ltd is one of the world’s leading suppliers of cement and aggregates (crushed stone, gravel and sand) as well as further activities such as ready-mix concrete and asphalt including services. The Group holds majority and minority interests in more than 70 countries on all continents and employs almost 90,000 people.
