Pavilion Technologies has announced that Monarch Cement Company has chosen Pavilion’s Pyroprocessing Control Solution to optimize two kiln lines at its Humboldt, Kansas plant. Monarch will deploy the Model-Predictive Control (MPC)-based application to improve operating stability, enhance product quality, reduce specific energy costs and minimise NOx emissions. Monarch is the fifth cement manufacturer in six months to deploy Pavilion’s Cement Solution.

"Our decision to invest in Pavilion Technologies’ pyroprocessing optimization solution reflects our commitment to continuous operational improvement and market leadership," said Harvey Buckley, vice president of operations, Monarch Cement Company. "Pavilion has a solid track record in the cement industry and is known for delivering measurable results. We are confident that we will achieve our business objectives with Pavilion."

With Pavilion’s Cement Solution, Monarch will be able to reduce fuel consumption, consistently achieve its product quality targets, and reduce NOx emissions levels. Based in part on the projections of Pavilion’s ValueFirst(R) benefits analysis, Monarch chose Pavilion after a thorough investigation. As part of this analysis, Pavilion projects that Monarch will:

– Reduce process and clinker quality (free lime) variability by up to 50 percent

– Reduce downtime due to process upsets

–  Reduce specific fuel consumption by two to four percent

– Reduce NOx emissions per ton of clinker by eight percent

"We are honored that Monarch Cement selected Pavilion’s Cement Solution to enhance its kiln performance," said Ralph Carter, CEO, Pavilion Technologies. "Monarch joins the growing roster of leading cement producers worldwide that are turning to Pavilion to reduce production costs and increase asset availability to meet customer demands."
