Coming just over a month after the announcement of the Volsk joint venture, HeidelbergCement is announcing the building of a second new Russian 2Mta works.

This is to be located in the Tula region and some 130 km to the south of Moscow.  Like the Volsk plant, completion is scheduled for some time in 2008 and is aimed at helping to alleviate the current cement shortage in Russia and its production is primarily aimed at the greater Moscow market.

HeidelbergCement has taken a 88 per cent interest in Gurovo Beton, which has an aggregates and pre-fabricated concrete products operation in the Tula region, and will use this site to build the cement works, that would become the group’s third in the Russian Federation.
