Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Japan has just won a nearly EUR77.4m contract to supply design, equipment, material and technical services for the second production line of But Son 2 Cement Plant in central Vietnam.

The contract was signed in Hanoi between the Japanese contractor and Vietnam’s But Son Cement Joint Stock Company.

Construction of the cement production line is scheduled to start later this year for completion in early 2009.

The line, which is expected to turn out 4000tpd of clinker equivalent to 1.6Mt of cement a year, will help raise the total capacity of the But Son 2 Cement Plant to 3Mta of cement.

The project is part of the national cement industry development plan until 2010 and vision to 2020 already approved by the prime minister.
