Lafarge Beocinska Fabrika Cementa, Serbia, placed an order with KHD Humboldt Wedag AG for modernisation and upgrading its raw-material grinding system at the Beocin plant located northwest from Belgrade at the Donau river.

Except for concrete foundations and control system the project will be implemented by KHD Humboldt Wedag AG on a turnkey basis. The existing grinding system equipped with an impact dryer and air-swept grinding mill as major machinery of a capacity of approximately 180tph of raw meal shall be upgraded to an output of 285tph. This quite considerable increase in capacity will be achieved by integrating an additional fine grinding and drying system into the existing plant. In view of the high moisture content of 22 per cent of the material fed into the new system and the high drying capacity required for the grinding plant, not only the hot-gas generators but moreover the use of all kiln waste gases and cooler waste air have been considered for the plant layout.

The scope of supply of KHD Humboldt Wedag AG essentially consists of a static V-separator adapted to this particular application, an impact hammer mill of type PHM 3000 x 2600 with drying string, a static separator of type LS 8600, high-efficiency cyclones and a mill fan. The mechanical transport units both for raw material and raw-meal handling will be replaced and modified respectively. Start-up of the upgraded plant has been scheduled for April 2004.
