Nigeria’s largest cement producer, Dangote Cement, says it will launch its new Ibese plant on 9 February 2012. The plant, with a cement capacity of 6Mta, is situated in Ogun State.
President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote told Nigerian newspaper, The Moment, that the new plant will help the country cut its reliance on imports, and his organisation has taken up the challenge in leading the way to make the nation self-reliant in cement production.
"Our long-term ambition is to develop 46Mt of production and terminal capacity in Africa by 2015. We want to become a truly pan-African champion in the sector, capable of competing globally with the largest cement companies in the world," he said.
