Iran registered an eight per cent YoY rise in cement production last year, which ended on 19 March with volumes reaching 66.4Mt, IRNA news agency reported. Some 67.6Mt of clinker was producer, up 12 per cent YoY.
Meanwhile, exports of cement and clinker increased 17.44 per cent and reached 10.12Mt.
Mehdi Ghazanfari, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, stated that domestic capacity currently stands at 74Mt, adding that this figure will reach 110Mt by 2015. One of its latest completed projects – a 1Mta cement plant in the country’s central province of Qom – was inaugurated in December last year by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
