Koen Coppenholle has become the the new Chief Executive of CEMBUREAU, taking over from  Jean-Marie Chandelle who retired at the end of June.

“I will ensure that the voice of our industry sector is heard in the major ongoing policy debates, ranging from the future design of European climate change and energy legislation to the reflection on a resource efficient society. In order to remain successful in Europe, the cement industry needs a competitive environment with an appropriate legal framework that ensures a level playing field and provides legal certainty and predictability for investments”, states Koen Coppenholle.

Koen Coppenholle has been Head of European Affairs for ArcelorMittal in Brussels since November 2007 and was. Senior Counsel European Affairs with General Electric Europe in Brussels between September 2000 and November 2007, following a distinguished legal career.

CEMBUREAU President, Ignacio Madridejos indicates: “I am certain that Koen will rise to the challenge of positioning the cement industry in this ever-changing world. In addition, I wish to express my thanks to Jean-Marie Chandelle for his dedication to CEMBUREAU during his 16 years as Chief Executive.”

Jean-Marie Chandelle adds: “I would like to wish my successor, Koen, all the best in his new role. There are many opportunities ahead, and I am certain that under his leadership, the cement industry will be well positioned to make the most of them.”??CEMBUREAU is also pleased to announce the appointment of Claude Loréa, Technical Director, as a Deputy Chief Executive of the Association.
