The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed concern over the closure of Arghakhanchi Cement’s mine situated at Narpani, Arghakhanchi district, condemning the violence on the mine staff.

According to reports in the Himalayan Times, due to the vested interests of some people, the company has been unable to operate the mine and is bearing huge losses.

The mine has been forced to close down for the past eight months. Due to the closure, the company’s factory has been unable to access raw materials which will eventually lead to the shut down of the cement factory as well.

FNCCI has said that such acts deteriorate the environment for businesses in Nepal. The cement factory was established 12 years ago with a production rate of 1000tpd of clinker.
