The Balsa Nova works of CIA de Cimento Itambè, situated near the city of Curitiba in southern Brazil, has started production.
The new plant features a 3000tpd kiln line built by ThyssenKrupp Polysius as well as a second-generation 265tph raw meal Quadropol roller mill, also supplied by the German equipment manufacturer.
The Quadropol is a compact mill designed for high drive powers and high availability. With its ability to switch over automatically from four-roller operation to two roller operation, this mill becomes highly flexible with regard to its adjustment to the raw meal demands fluctuating between approximately 30 and 100 per cent.
The arrangement of the roller units on separate foundation blocks provides optimum absorption of the grinding impacts and therefore an operation of the mill with low vibration. In addition, the design has a great advantage with regard to maintenance: The mechanical parts inside the mill have been reduced to the minimum.
The patented roller seal is located outside the mill and its replacement does not require a disassembly of the roller. The main components are located outside and are freely accessible so that maintenance work is reduced.
