Venezuela’s Cemento Andino broke major records in production and delivery, according to reports by Cesar Villareal, general manager of the Trujillo group. For the full-year, the company produced 586,000t of cement. The 2012 figure comes after the company broke historical production records in January, November and December, when the monthly output reached 65,756t, 65,521t and 67,000t, respectively – significantly above the previous record of 64,304t noted in August 2011.

"In 2012, production of the socialist enterprise Cemento Andino rose to more than half a billion kilograms of product , meeting not only the demand of Trujillo state, but also Merida, Tachira, Barinas and Portuguesa states, which are also our markets, in bags, in bulk and now  readymix, "said Villarreal.

He added that the company’s dispatch department shipped 583,716t in 2012. Nearly 73 per cent of this total was delivered as bagged cement with the remainder finding its way to the customers in bulk.
