Amrit Cement India Ltd (AMIL) has launched its 1Mta cement plant in northeast India.
Situated in the Jayantia Hills, Meghalaya, the new cement works will serve the northeastern market, the Economic Times (ET) of India reported. The facility is also equipped with a 10MW captive power plant.
AMIL has an ambitious plan to install 5Mta of cement capacity by 2015-16 through capacity additions in the northeast and through new volumes in Nepal and Bihar, for which initiatives have already been undertaken.
The ET reported Pradeep Bagla, chairman of Amrit Cement, saying that the company had created a strong regional distribution network and has a fleet of more than 300 trucks to ensure continuous and scheduled deliveries in all parts of the region
