The government has granted all required licences for the construction of the KES12bn (US$136.9m) Pokot Cement Factory.
Rajesh Rawal, Cemtech Sanghi's Group director, said it has taken more than two years for the company to be granted the licenses.
He said the company is now ready to begin the project which is scheduled to be completed by end of 2014 or early 2015. "What we will set up is factory that has capacity to produce more than 1.2Mta of cement for at least 50 years," he said. The factory is set to be built on 650 acres of land.
