Nepal-based cement producer Ghorahi Cement Industry has launched its Sagarmatha brand into the local market with an unveiling ceremony held on Thursday.
According to the company, the Sagarmatha OPC, which ranges from 55-60MPa, complies with Nepal Standards NS 49-2041. The company said that it was working for international recognition by obtaining ISO 9001 certification.
"By manufacturing high grade cement in the country, we aim to substitute imports from India and China," said Director General of the factory, Aditya Sanghai. "Our goal is to substitute imports of cement and clinker worth more than NPR10bn (US$105m) annually."
The Ghorahi Cement plant has the capacity to produce 1200tpd of clinker and 750tpd of cement.
