Semen Indonesia sees 16% YoY rise in Jan-Aug 2013 cement sales

Semen Indonesia reported a 16 per cent increase in cement sales for the first eight months of this year to 16Mt, as the country's largest producer sees market share increase on the back of new volumes.

Domestic shipments increased by 15 per cent YoY to 15.8Mt while exports rose 373 per cent to 191Mt.

Dwi Soetjipto, president director of Semen Indonesia, said the rise in sales was also supported by operations of two new lines, Tuban IV and Tonasa V. Over the Jan-August 2013 period, the company’s market share rose to 44 per cent compared to 40.2 per cent the year before.

Semen Indonesia accounted for the majority of sales at 51.2 per cent, followed by subsidiary PT Semen Padang (27.5 per cent) and Semen Tonasa (21.2 per cent).

In the first half of the year, Semen Indonesia reported a net profit of IDR2.58trn, a 22.9 per cent YoY increase.

This year, the company aims to produce 27.7Mt of cement, up 23.1 per cent more than last year’s 22.5Mt.
